As we turned off of the R44 onto the Elsenberg road the atmosphere took a turn from ‘Stellenbosch wine region’ to ‘english country’ side. You forget your busy city life and the emails that are waiting in your inbox as the fresh air fills your lungs. After crossing over the railway you soon arrive at De Meye.
The dirt road twists up past old buildings and patches of vineyard. You are instantly taken with the scenery, beautiful buildings and the inviting atmosphere.
As we walked into the restaurant we were immediately greeted by the friendly Luke Grant who owns and runs The Table along with his lovely wife, Jessica Shepherd (who is also the chef).
Needless to say that everything from the homely interior of mismatch furniture to Jessica’s beautifully down to earth food, gorgeous pastries and rich coffee met all my expectations.
